MERCEDES-BENZ sold a lot of C204-series C-Class coupes, and now that the all-new C205 is here that success record is expected to be smashed, even in the face of stiffer competition from the BMW 4 Series, Lexus RC and anticipated newcomers such as the new Audi A5 and Infiniti Q60.

Resembling a scaled-down version of the billionaire-baiting S-Class Coupe, the relatively keenly priced C205 could be said to democratise design.
